1. Agreement to these terms
By using virginiabeachdockbuilders.com (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. What we are — and what we are not
Virginia Beach Dock Builders is a free matching and estimating service. We connect waterfront owners with independent, licensed marine contractors serving their area, and we provide informational cost estimates to help you plan. We are not a licensed marine contractor. We do not build, install, repair, design, or engineer anything, and nothing on the Site is construction, engineering, legal, or permitting advice.
3. Estimates are informational only
Cost ranges shown on the Site — including calculator results, cost guides, and comparison tables — are planning estimates based on typical regional pricing. They are not quotes, bids, or offers, and actual pricing may differ significantly based on your site conditions. Only the licensed contractor you are matched with can provide a binding quote, and only after a site visit. Permit fees, timelines, and agency processes described on the Site are general information that changes over time; confirm current requirements with your contractor and the relevant agencies.
4. Contractor matching
- The contractors we match you with are independent businesses. They are not our employees, agents, partners, or subcontractors.
- Any agreement to perform work is solely between you and the contractor. We are not a party to that contract.
- We check that contractors we work with hold a Virginia contractor license and provide proof of insurance, but we do not supervise or guarantee their work, pricing, schedule, or conduct. You are responsible for verifying credentials and references before hiring anyone.
- We may receive compensation from contractors for connecting them with homeowners. Using the Site costs you nothing.
5. Consent to be contacted
By submitting a form with the consent checkbox, you agree that we and your matched contractor(s) may contact you about your project by phone, text, or email, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of any purchase, and you may opt out at any time as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to submit false or misleading information, impersonate others, scrape or harvest data from the Site, interfere with its operation, or use it for any unlawful purpose. We may block access for misuse.
7. Intellectual property
The Site’s content, design, calculator, and branding are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, republish, or create derivative works from the Site without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Site, reliance on any estimate or information on it, or any work performed by a contractor you hire. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site or your violation of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Virginia Beach, Virginia.
11. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the current version, and continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
