1. Who we are

Virginia Beach Dock Builders (“we,” “us”) operates virginiabeachdockbuilders.com, a free cost-estimating and contractor-matching service for waterfront construction in Hampton Roads, Virginia. We are not a licensed marine contractor and we do not perform construction work. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and who we share it with.

2. Information you provide to us

When you use our cost calculator, the get-matched form, or contact us, you may provide:

  • Contact details: your name, phone number, and email address.
  • Project details: structure type, size, materials, water depth and bottom conditions, add-ons, waterway or neighborhood, ZIP code, and any notes you write.
  • The estimate range our calculator produced for your inputs.

3. Information collected automatically

We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These tools collect information automatically using cookies and similar technologies:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

When enabled on this site, GA4 collects device and browser information, pages viewed, referring site, approximate location derived from your IP address (GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses), and interaction events. The events we track include page views, clicks on calls-to-action and phone numbers, calculator activity (starting the calculator, completing each step, and receiving an estimate), and form submissions. We use this data in aggregate to measure how the site performs and where visitors drop off. We do not use GA4 data to build advertising profiles, and we do not run cross-site ad targeting. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.

Vercel Analytics

Our hosting provider collects privacy-friendly, aggregate performance and traffic metrics that do not use cookies and do not identify individual visitors.

4. How we use your information

  • To generate your informational cost estimate.
  • To match you with an independent, licensed local marine contractor and pass your project details to them.
  • To respond when you contact us.
  • To operate, measure, and improve the website (analytics described above).
  • To comply with legal obligations.

5. How we share your information

Your contact and project information is shared strictly with the local, licensed, and insured professionals we match you with so they can reach out about your project. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

We also use a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Usebasin — receives and stores form submissions (your lead details).
  • Vercel — hosts the website and provides aggregate analytics.
  • Google — provides Google Analytics 4 as described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

6. Consent to be contacted

When you submit a form with the consent checkbox, you agree that Virginia Beach Dock Builders and the contractor(s) we match you with may contact you about your project by phone, text message, or email, including via automated technology. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text, asking to be removed on a call, or sending us a message through our contact form.

7. Data retention

We keep lead records as long as needed to provide the matching service and maintain business records, and analytics data per the retention settings of the tools above. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Section 8).

8. Your privacy rights

Virginia residents have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. We do not sell personal data or engage in targeted advertising. To exercise any right, send us your request through our contact form. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond as the VCDPA requires.

9. Children

This site is intended for adults arranging waterfront construction. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
